Jean Luce (1895-1964) is one of the most influential and talented 20th century French ceramicists and an important contributor to the Art Moderne movement. Born in 1895, he spent his entire life immersed in the production, design and education of high-end decorative arts.

Luce’s father owned a ceramics shop and Jean had his own by his mid-twenties. Luce’s best pieces are characterized by original sleek forms with modern geometric and gilded patterns. In addition to ceramics, Luce produced a significant body of work in glass. 1stdibs provides an interesting overview of his output and the current marketplace.
