SHIRO KURAMATA "VASE #2" LUCITE & GLASS
Shiro Kuramata is one of the 20th century's most revered and distinctive designers.
His creations manifest an intersection between minimalism and an irreverence/playfulness similar to Memphis.
Kuramata's designs epitomize "sculptural furniture" - many of his works take conventional forms but dismiss functionality.
The "How High the Moon" chair from 1986 (made of wire steel mesh) is a prime example.
"Vase #2" is a fantastic piece from Kuramata's oeuvre and instantly recognizable by Design aficionados.
Examples on 1stdibs normally command upwards of $2,000.
Caviar20 great design and great value.
