SOREL ETROG "JAPANESE BLUE -TRIAL" INTAGLIO
Sorel Etrog (1933- 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor.
His work can be found in numerous museum and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA. His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond.
While Etrog is most famous for his bronze sculptures, he completed a significant body of work on paper including illustrations and print-making.
Since starting to work with his estate we have come across some spectacular works that have never been exhibited or offered commercially.
This work, one of a handful of "Trials" acquired by Caviar20, is a unique print that demonstrates Etrog's mastery of line...and his curiosity as a printmaker. Etrog experimented with his signature forms (from sculpture) on several different types of paper - including this highly textured Japanese Blue paper.
This is a great opportunity to acquire a unique print by Sorel Etrog from the 1960's
