HAROLD TOWN "GABLE AND CRAWFORD" LITHO 1971
Harold Town (1924-1990) is the ultimate chameleon of Canadian art. His ingenuity and creativity have secured his place in the canon.
Town's reputation was established in the late 1950's with a series of unique prints ("Single Autographic Prints") that included elements of collage. He represented Canada at the Venice Biennale in 1956 with these works.
Over the decades, Town continued to reinvent his aesthetic, change medium and mood.
While often associated with Painters Eleven, he was also a master printmaker. Throughout his lengthy career he repeatedly returned to printmaking to create significant and memorable bodies of work.
Caviar20 is especially fond of the "Superstar" series of lithographs and is excited to be offering a selection of hard-to-find examples including Yoko Ono, Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe and Gracie Slick.
