SOREL ETROG "HOMAGE TO KANDINSKY" DRAWING
Sorel Etrog's "Painted Constructions" are one of the most important series that the sculptor created.
In the 1970's while working in France, he decided to create a small number of etchings based on these sensational and career-defining works.
Working directly with the Sorel Etrog estate, Caviar20 uncovered some of the original drawings that inspired the series.
"Homage to Kandinsky" is a very rare and intimate ink drawing that would serve as the inspiration for an edition of etchings.
Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor. His work can be found in numerous museum and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA.
His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond.
This drawing is a rare example of one of Etrog's working drawings to come on the market.
