SOREL ETROG "LINK HEAD STUDY - PINK" WC, 1967
This amazing example from Sorel Etrog's "Link Head" or "Key Head" series is lovely by itself...yet, has a spouse or sibling. (Scroll to the bottom or click here)
While we are not certain they were created at the same time, Cavair20 has framed them identically and united them to be hung alongside each other.
(And while they are sold individually hopefully the sanctity of their union will be honored)
The motif of "links" first appears in Etrog's drawings in 1964 and then becomes a consistent element in his oeuvre for the rest of the decade. Click here to see an example of a bronze "Key Head" sculpture.
Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor. His work can be found in numerous museum and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA.
His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond.
Etrog was elected a member of the Order of Canada in 1994 and two years later became a Chevalier of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.
