Fornasetti is to Italian Design what Warhol is to American art: 

A talented illustrator. A master of appropriation. Prolific and relentlessly inventive.

During the 50’s and 60’s, figuration was rejected by artists and designers internationally. When Pop Art emerged, figuration fetishized banal current day iconography. 

Fornasetti ignored these shifts and developed a large visual language, exploring subjects popular throughout Western visual culture. 

The sun, moon and stars are just a few examples that he depicted in his unique graphic style. 

His "Soli Nero" designs are arguably his most recognizable after "Themes and Variations". 

While Caviar20 specializes in vintage Fornasetti, this is the first time we have encountered such a large porcelain serving tray.
