FORNASETTI "EUTERPE: LE MUSE" 10" PLATE
Ancient Greece is one of Fornasetti's favorite inspiration points. He repeatedly returns to the heroines of mythology as subject matter for an array of consumer products.
Euterpe is one of the three original muses and one of the many daughters of Zues. She is normally depicted holding a flute since she is known as the godess of music and poetry.
This is a lovely example of Fornasetti, while not a well-known design it demonstrates many of the themes and attributes apparent in his more iconic pieces.
A great gift for a Fornasetti or music fan.
