While Caviar20 focuses on high-end vintage, we also believe in championing excellent contemporary design. We are excited and proud to be offering lighting by Tahir Mahmood.

Tahir debuted this sculptural and snazzy lamp at IDS 11 in Toronto, January 2011. It is undeniably contemporary yet has a mild retro allusion. The sustainable construction and materials is in line with Tahir’s previous designs and is handmade by artisans in Tahir’s studio in Lahore, Pakistan. The body is made of Dalbergia Sissoo wood (native to the Indian Subcontinent, often referred to as “Indian Rosewood”) and the lacquered sections are made from a sap-based resin and applied with palm leaves.

The designer, Tahir Mahmood is a 21st century creative chameleon; a successful graphic designer, new media artist and product designer. His work has been featured at prominent Toronto design events such as IDS and Come Up to My Room. His designs have been featured in ID magazine, Wallpaper, the New York Times and Canadian House & Home amongst others. Tahir is currently working as the Art Director on Deepa Mehta’s film adaptation of Salman Rushdie’s novel “Midnight’s Children”.
