TRAVERTINE & BRASS LAMPS BY RAYMOR
Founded in 1935 and continuing well into the 1970’s Raymor, a New York-based company, created an array of high-end decorative household items, notably ceramics and lighting. Raymor commissioned both well-known designers and well-established European studios to create products that they then distributed across the United States and beyond.
Raymor is a prime example of a mid-century design company that deserves more scholarship and formal documentation of their creative output. A short list of the designers and artists they employed (or imported) is impressive: Gilbert Rohde, Donald Deskey, Ray and Charles Eames, George Nelson, Eva Zeisel, Arne Jacobsen, Tapio Wirkaala, Hans Wegner, and Ettore Sottsass to mention a few.
While these lamps are unattributed (for now) they both retain their original stickers and shades!
