TAHIR MAHMOOD "GIRGIT" CERAMIC LAMP COLLECTION
Tahir Mahmood's “Girgit” lamp is one of Caviar20's best sellers. It was our first foray into contemporary design in early 2010 and we continue to see it successfully placed in an variety of progressive interiors.
"Girgit" is sleek and polished yet entirely hand-made. It consists of 6 parts; 3 cylindrical hand-sculpted and individually glazed ceramic cylinders, each one separated by matching unglazed discs.
While the lamp alludes to Ettore Sottsass’ totems, “Girgit” elegant color combination and proportions make it a superior offspring.
The designer, Tahir Mahmood is a 21st century creative chameleon; a successful graphic & product designer, new media artist and art director. His work has been featured at prominent Toronto design events such as IDS and Come Up to My Room.
Tahir was the art director on the film adaptation of Salman Rushdie's "Midnight's Children" directed by Deepa Metha.
Additional custom sizes and color combinations are available through Caviar 20.
