BJORN WIINBLAD FOR ROSENTHAL CANDLESTICKS
Over the last few years there has been a rediscovery of the prolific and whimsical designs of Bjorn Wiinblad (1918-2006).
Wiinblad shares many similarities with Piero Fornasetti. Both artists/designers created a distinct visual language that combined illustration, history and fantasy.
Wiinblad contributed his designs to Rosenthal, the noted German porcelain company, for many years.
Caviar20 is a big fan of this body of work, with a particular interest in the more understated patterns or collections.
These candlesticks, with their elegant shape adorned with a tiny braille-like pattern, are a paradigm of Wiinblad's more muted work where pattern and form take precedence over figuration.
