STEPHANE CHAMARD "LOUISE TABLES"
Originally from Paris, Stephane Chamard is a leading interior designer based in Toronto, working on high-end residential projects both in Canada and France.
One of his latest interiors was the cover story of a recent issue of House & Home.
Chamard created this collection of versatile side tables for a project in Toronto.
The "Louise" trio was intended to be grouped together like a contemporary interpretation of nesting tables.
However as each piece has a descending height the tables can be equally affective and impactful individually.
Chamard is an enthusiastic fan of Louise Nevelson. These tables were a brilliant realization of the question:
“What would Louise Nevelson’s creations look like if she had created furniture?”
Chamard revived Nevelson’s practice of assembling diverse decontextulaized wood elements, uniting them into a striking form with her signature matte black potion/paint and adding a touch of distress to the surfaces.
His home, including the "Louise" tables, also appeared on a recent segment of House & Home TV. Check it out here.
