Joel Kucer is a Montreal-based industrial designer and sustainability consultant.

He graduated from Dawson College's industrial design program and continued his studies at the renowned Ecosa Institute (Arizona).

Inspired by the Armadillo's articulated shell armor, Kucer created a sculptural base that properly displays this fascinating vestige.

The Armadillo's shell has a unique 9 tiered bony plate. Although now stationary, it resembles an Op art design with its trompe d'oeil motion.

The base is impressive and an admirable creation in its own right: cold rolled sheet metal with electrostatic powder coat matte licorice-black paint.

This is the first example of one of Joel Kucer's natural oddities sculptures.
