SIMON HENNINGSEN FOR LYFA "DIVAN 2" PENDANT, 1962
"Divan 2" is unquestionably the most successful and enduring design manufactured by Lyfa (our favorite mid-century lighting company)
Its merits and discussion points are numerous:
The pendant was designed by Simon Henningsen (the son of one of the most famous lighting designers - Poul Henningsen) for the Divan 2 restaurant in Copenhagen.
It debuted in 1962 and went into production shortly thereafter. In a short period of time it had international recognition - within two years it won several design awards, was exhibited at the Louvre and was available at George Jensen's New York City shop.
Lyfa found the lamp to costly to produce and was discontinued at the end of the decade.
Today it is one of the most sought-after vintage lights - and another fine example why Lyfa is a name to know if interested in 20th century design.
Two examples available.
Example A: good vintage condition, 3 shards missing
Example B (pictured): very good condition, 2 shards missing, general wear
