ETTORE SOTTSASS FOR BITOSSI "FISHIETTO" VASES
Ettore Sottsass began designing for Bitossi (the famed Italian ceramic company) in the mid-1950's.
Sottsass had a long relationship with Bitossi, as they are responsible for manufacturing and promoting some of his most iconic designs.
The "Fischietto" (which translates as "Whistle") series began in 1962 in very limited quantities.
Remarkably minimal and distinctive examples from "Fischietto" appeared in "Domus" several times in the early 1960's.
This later version, a sort of sequel or sibling, has a similar but softer form and was only created in sky blue with navy trim.
An impressive, charming and affordable example of Sottsass' post-Memphis work.
