FORNASETTI "POSATERIA 1956" 10" PLATE
Gilded. Graphic. Glamorous.
Fornasetti was fascinated by the pleasures and ritual of daily life, both contemporary and throughout history.
Throughout his body of work he depicts eating, drinking, smoking, music and the various tools needed to enjoy these pleasures.
His style ranges from intricate to stylized to impressionistic...but always recognizable.
The "Posateria" (or cutlery translated from Italian) pattern was applied to a set of dinner plates, but is so boldly ornate with its gilded surface it seems sacrilege to consider putting food or fork near its surface.
