GERARD TAYLOR "PICCADILLY" MEMPHIS TABLE LAMP, 1982
Gerard Taylor started his design career in Ettore Sottsass's studio in the early 1980's.
While working for Sottsass, Taylor designed "Piccadilly"; an elegant and gentle table lamp evocative of the Memphis generation.
(Ettore Sottsass was both Memphis ringleader and the first to abandon the community and aesthetic in 1985.)
While "Piccadilly's" form is far more sober than some of its contemporaries, its palette is distinctively Memphis with its contrast between the pastels and dark green base.
"Piccadilly" is in the permanent collection of the Design Museum.
