HARRY BERTOIA FOR KNOLL "BERTOIA BENCH"

$1,450

Harry Bertoia (1915-1978), the noted sculptor, is arguably one of the most successful creative forces hired by Florence Knoll in the 1950's.

His series of wire chairs remains in production and is truly an icon of 20th century design.

Bertoia also created a handful of other designs as part of the wire collection for the influential and innovative furniture manufacturer, including this simple but striking bench.

While the bench remains in production, and retails for aprox. $2,500, this original version in teak and 84" wide ceased production in 1964.

A paradigm of Mid-Century Modern, the bench can also double as coffee table.
