JEFF KOONS "SPLIT ROCKER" MINI SCULPTURE, 2000
If you're in New York (before October 19th) we strongly encourage you to see the Jeff Koons' retrospective.
Not only is it the last exhibition at the Marcel Breuer-designer building (before they move to the Meatpacking District in 2015) but it also the first time the museum has devoted its entire exhibition space to one artist!
And that artist is BIG...
Jeff Koons' "Balloon Flower (Magenta)" sells for $25.7 million in June, 2008.
Later that summer, 17 Jeff Koons sculptures are exhibited at the Chateau de Versailles.
It is the first time contemporary art is presented at the legendary French castle.
His "Balloon Flower (Blue)" sells for $16.8 million in November, 2010.
"Pink Panther" sells for $16.9 million in May, 2011.
And if you thought that Koons' prices had already climbed as high as they could go...
On November 14, 2012 "Tulips" a mirror-coated stainless steel sculpture sold for $33.6 million at Christie's in NYC.
Koons produced this limited edition mini-sculpture entitled "Split Rocker" for an exhibition called "La Beaute" in Avignon, France in 2000.
It is one of the very few Koons multiples available on the market...priced below $10,000.
A great gift for the (aspirational) art collector.
