We can't think of a Canadian artist more ready for a re-evalution than Joseph Drapell.

Joseph Drapell (b. 1940) had great success in Canada and beyond during the 1970's and 80's as one of the only Canadians affiliated with the New New School of Painting.

A disciple of Jack Bush, Drapell was first shown at the Dunkelman Gallery and later at Sable-Castelli.

Drapell established his name for his iconic style and practice of using a canvas-wide spreading tool to create dynamic forms, such as circles, ovals, and arches.

Typical of the New New School painters, Drapell often used extravagant colors and bold metallics.

This work on paper is a great example of the forms and vibrant palette that Drapell is renowned for.
