Kosso Eloul (1920-1995) is one of Canada’s foremost sculptors. 

Eloul was born in Israel but educated in the United States. He first studied at the Art Institute of Chicago (under Frank Lloyd Wright) and later at the Chicago School of Design (with Laszlo Moholy-Nagy). He would represent Israel at the Venice Biennale in 1959.

In the late 1960's he would settle in Toronto and became known for his large outdoor works. In many ways he was a precursor for both Richard Serra and Joel Shaprio.

His powerful minimalist works can be seen throughout Toronto's downtown core in addition to many other prominent public spaces around the world from California to Israel.

Eloul did several series of minimalist lithographs in the late 1960's and early 1970's with the prestigious Gemini press. 

Many major institutions have examples of his work, both prints and sculptures, in their permanent collections including the Brooklyn Museum, the Norton Simon Museum, the Israel Museum and  the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts to mention a few.
