LARGE "GOLDENEYE" COCKTAIL TABLE
We're going to defy some of the new fans of this amazing oversized cocktail table who've described it as being reminiscent of Gustav Klimt.
Of course we agree with the aesthetic comparison to Klimt's paintings with their Byzantine mosaic-like gold leafed backgrounds that he created during the first decade of the 20th century.
But instead we'd also like to pay hommage to the eponymous James Bond film from 1995 which introduced Pierce Bronson as Bond and Dame Judy Dench as M...and had U2 write the film's theme song for Tina Turner.
We'll stop our 20th century pop-culture nerd-out here.
This is a grand cocktail table with an ornate and distressed gold-leaf pattern surface evocative of creme-brule.
The center circle of the table is pure gold-leaf.
While this great piece is by an unknown hand, the Italian industrial base suggests the mid-eighties.
Note: the table has a protective glass top in very good condition, that does not appear in the photos.
