LOUISE NEVELSON "PLANT", 1975

$3,000

Caviar20 is excited to be offering this fantastic sculpture by the inimitable Louise Nevelson - one of the most revered and unique sculptors of the 20th century.

Nevelson's work is instantly recognizable and is positioned in an interesting place within the canon of art history, situated between Abstract Expressionism and Minimalism.

Her work has had an undeniable influence on a host of significant artists including Tony Cragg and Louise Bourgeois.

Over the last few years there has been tremendous momentum in the renewed interest and appreciation of her work. In November of 2014, a new auction record of just below $1 million was established for one of Nevelson's signature black construction sculptures.

While Nevelson almost exclusively worked in black, she did create all white (and even some all gold) creations - check out her massive installation "Dawn Forest" or "White Column"

Both editioned sculptures and all-white works are quite rare in Nevelson's oeuvre. "Plant" is an ideal starter sculpture for a young collector, or a seasoned one looking for a white work.
