Mary Pratt (b. 1935) is one of Canada's foremost figurative painters.

She is renowned across the country for her vibrant and meticulous depictions of household objects, bonfires and food. Pratt is adept at presenting "cozy" subjects with an undercurrent of menace, mortality or vanitas.

In the early 1970's Pratt became fascinated by the Amaryllis flower - executing a number of artworks in a variety of media.

This delicate and precise drawing is a unique creation that likely informed the "Amaryllis" lithograph in 1975.

Pratt's work can be found in permanent collections across the nation including the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa), the Vancouver Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Beaverbrook Gallery and Canada House (UK)
