ROBERT MOTHERWELL "TOBACCO ROTH" LITHO, 1975
While Motherwell is known as one of the most important and influential artists associated with Abstract Expressionism, he is also revered for his work and promotion of printmaking.
The inclusion of European cigarette graphics in his multiples is one of the most distinctive aesthetic characteristics in his work.
This work, along with St. Michel III (also offered by Caviar20) appeared in the international traveling exhibition "The Prints of Robert Motherwell" which had stops at the MoMA (New York) in addition to Australia and Japan. The exhibition catalog can be seen online here.
We are excited to offer this lithograph with screenprint, on hand-made textured cream-colored paper, a true paradigm of Motherwell's oeuvre.
