NAN GOLDIN "JOEY IN MY MIRROR, 1992"
Nan Goldin (b. 1953) is unquestionably one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century.
A successor to Diane Arbus, her aesthetic and creative approach had a tremendous impact on both the medium and the art world.
Goldin was the first to use the "slide show" format in a high-art setting.
Beginning in the 1970's Goldin took candid shots of her lovers and friends - notably drag queens.
In the 1980's she documented her social circle, characters often living on the margins of society, in New York City and beyond.
"Joey in My Mirror, (Hornstr.), Berlin, 1992" is one of Goldin's most iconic images.
Both the central character and the 'subject in a front of a mirror' arrangement reappear many times throughout Goldin's work.
This image was printed in 2009 as a fundraiser for a Berlin-based cultural institution.
It is an affordable opportunity to acquire an iconic work by the inimitable Nan Goldin.
