PIERRE CARDIN 'GENTLEMAN'S BOX'
Pierre Cardin (b.1922) was arguably the first fashion designer to become an international household name.
In the 1950's he came to prominence for his futuristic geometric clothing that epitomized the high-end avant-garde.
In the successive decades, thanks to his canny willingness to license his brand, a huge range of products, both fashion and lifestyle bore his name.
While its doubtful that Cardin was personally involved with all aspects of his design output - furniture and home products were particularly important to him. There have been several publications documenting his furniture design - both the one-of-a-kind pieces and and the items that were put into production.
This handsome yet highly practical tiered "Gentleman's Box" is evocative of Cardin's best home designs from the 1970's - its realized in a smoky acrylic and bears the designers logo on top.
Beyond its sculptural properties, this box is chic storage for passport, business cards, cufflinks etc.
