“PIPISTRELLO” LIGHT designed by GAE AULENTI for MARTINELLI LUCE
Gae Aulenti is one of the most important female architects and designers of the 20th century. She is responsible for Paris’ exceptional Musee D’Orsay, taking a neglected train station and fashioning it into one of the world’s most memorable museums.
Aulenti has also designed a significant amount of furniture for companies such as Tecno, Zanotta, FontanaArte, and Knoll.
“Pipistrello”, designed in 1966, is her most iconic design. A sculptural table lamp with a stainless steel telescopic body that can be raised or lowered. Its impressive shade is made of white opal methacrylate and is in excellent condition.
