RYAN MCGINLEY "OLYMPIC SWIMMERS BOX" 2004
In 2004 the New York Times commissioned Ryan McGinley to shoot swimmers on the US Olympic team as they prepared for the summer games in Athens.
This was one of McGinley's earliest commissions for the Times.
Over the course of the past decade McGinley has shot for the newspaper and their affiliated magazines on a regular basis.
This portfolio of images was not released nor exhibited but the artist did create a multiple - 16 cards in a box in an edition of 500.
The set has been sold out for several years and examples are highly sought-after on the secondary market.
The images epitomize both McGinley's aesthetic and interest in the optimism and exuberance of youth.
Caviar20 has sold several examples of McGinley's photographs and we are pleased to offer this affordable multiple; ideal for a young collector.
