Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor.

His work can be found in numerous museum and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA.

His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond.

Etrog was elected a member of the Order of Canada in 1994 and two years later became a Chevalier of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.

The Art Gallery of Ontario organized a major retrospective of his work that ran during 2013.

Check out this great slide show by the Globe & Mail featuring the 8 Etrog publics sculptures around Toronto.

The "Key Head" is one of Etrog's most famous motifs - appearing in sculpture, drawings and prints beginning around 1964.

This desk-top sized example is a paradigm of Etrog's mysterious and inspiring forms.
