A bespoke queen-sized bed made of solid walnut, designed and crafted by Don Howell.

Don Howell’s first career was in the fashion world, including being a Design Director at John Varvatos for 9 years. In 2009, he resigned from this major position in order to dedicate himself to the creation of studio furniture.

An expert craftsman, Howell has spent the last few years refining his techniques and aesthetic, slowly hand-making heirloom-quality furniture for his friends and family using the finest hardwoods and burls.

Caviar20 is honored to be representing Howell’s bespoke furniture creations.

Inspired by the precision and passion for wood of George Nakashima, Howell accepts commissions for bespoke beds and site specific pieces.

Howell creates custom furniture engaging with the client at every level. For the bed pictured here, the client opted for a tightly grained American walnut with a linseed oil finish. The tapered brass-cap legs were inspired by the 1950’s designs of Harvey Probber and Paul McCobb and are a manifestation of the dialogue between client and craftsman.

For clients in North America, custom beds can be ready in 6 to 8 weeks.

Prices include delivery within the continent.

Delivery discount for clients in Toronto or New York City.
