WAYLANDE GREGORY "AZURE PEACOCK" CERAMIC DISH
Caviar20 is a big proponent of 20th century figurative ceramics, notably Piero Fornasetti (Italy) and Bjorn Wiinblad (Denmark).
We are excited to be offering our first piece by Waylande Gregory, one of the most collected and revered American ceramicists.
Waylande (1905-1971) is credited with both creating new approaches for studio ceramic production as well as contributing to the definition of Art Deco decorative arts in America.
Unlike some of his contemporaries, Gregory was not influenced by the Wiener Werkstätte, instead creating an aesthetic that was both whimsical and glamorous.
Many of the pieces produced in Gregory's studio are know for their vibrant colors and charming gilding.
