ES KERAMIK "ZEBRA PLANTERS"
We recently reunited these two handsome ceramic siblings after having acquired each planter far from the other.
Initially assumed to be mid-century American ceramics, we noticed a label on the smaller planter of ES Keramik.
Somewhat surprisingly, these were crafted in central Germany in a town called Rheinbach, outside of Bonn.
The studio ES Keramik was founded in 1921 by Josef Emons and remained active until the mid 1970's.
In the postwar years they would create some exceptional examples of "Fat Lava" ceramics - although less ostentatious and with smoother surfaces than rival studios.
Despite the planters association with Fat Lava - they have a lovely timeless aesthetic perfect for any type of interior.
