NAN GOLDIN "YOGO PUTTING ON POWDER" 1992
Nan Goldin (b. 1953) is unquestionably one of the most influential photographers of the 20th century.
In the early 1980's she established her name by documenting her social circle, characters often living on the margins of society, in New York City and beyond.
She had befriended drag queens in both Boston and later New York in the 1970's.
These friends became the subject matter and the reason behind her early success.
Over the years she would some of her most memorable images are of drag queens and transgendered women.
In the early 1990's Goldin revisited the subject and travelled to Bangkok to document the city's drag culture.
Many of these images appeared in "The Other Side" published in 1992.
Images from this series can be found in important public and private collections around the world.
This is an affordable opportunity to acquire an iconic work by the inimitable Nan Goldin.
