SOREL ETROG "NIGHT GUARD" LITHO, 1969
Caviar20 has a particular interest in sculptors who also turn a hand at printmaking.
So it is no surprise to find another fine example of a Sorel Etrog print on our site.
The motif of "links" first appears in his drawing in 1964 and then becomes a consistent element of his print work starting the following year.
It is an fitting element to appear on paper; Etrog often explored forms and figures on before realizing them in metal.
Sorel Etrog (1933 - 2014) is arguably Canada's most famous sculptor.
His work can be found in numerous museum and private collections including the Tate, the AGO and LACMA.
His public sculptures can be found on iconic corners in Toronto, Montreal, Israel and beyond.
Etrog was elected a member of the Order of Canada in 1994 and two years later became a Chevalier of Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in France.
This lithograph is a great example of Etrog's aesthetic and signature form - an ideal starter piece for your collection.
