Cindy Sherman

Since the late 1970s, Cindy Sherman has donned an array of personas and costumes to explore and analyze the ways women are perceived and presented in Western culture. She has expanded the potential of photography by using it to address feminist and postmodern theories, and highlighted the way cinema reinforced archetypes of women across both visual culture and society.
