JENNY HOLZER "MY MOUTH PROVIDES" PHOTO, 1999
Jenny Holzer (b. 1950) has an important exhibition history in Italy: In 1990 Holzer was the first woman to represent the United States at the Venice Biennale. That year she won the Leone D'Oro - the event's top honor.
Holzer has continued to have major accomplishments/exhibitions in Italy. Most recently during the summer of 2015 she had a major showing at the Museo Correr, on the Piazza San Marco, of her "War Paintings".
In the late 1990's Holzer began her legendary public "projections". This photograph is from a projection on the Fondazione Cini that took place over 5 days in June 1999 in Venice.
In the succeeding years these poems/texts of have been projected/exhibited in public spaces in over 40 countries.
This work is one of nine images of this seminal and iconic projection that comprises the "Xenon" portfolio.
During Holzer's career, while Holzer has created numerous memorable works, She has produced very few that are domestically proportioned.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an affordable work by one of the most distinctive artists of the 20th century.
