Sol LeWitt (1928-2007) is one of the most distinctive and influential artists of the 20th century, an important player in the most most cerebral "isms" such as minimalism and conceptual art.

His large scale "wall drawings" destabilized and expanded the conventional definition of authorship - many of his works were created by teams using elaborate instructions rather than his own hand or selected assistants.

We are especially fond of his hard-edge geometric compositions - such as this excellent example in saturated primary colors.

Caviar20 highly recommends a visit to DIA:Beacon in upstate New York to see some classic example of LeWitt's work.

Wikipedia has a generous and comprehensive on LeWitt's life and work.

This particular work is a paradigm of LeWitt's work, featuring his signature geometric, rainbow stripes.

These arcs or stripes have been incorporated into many of Lewitt’s public works, including his acclaimed large-scale work at the Toronto Pearson Airport.
