VASA MIHICH "TRINITY" SCULPTURE, 2001

$2,150

We are pleased to offer this rare and vintage example of one of Vasa Mihich's famed group sculptures.

"Trinity" created in 2001 exemplifies Vasa's mastery of color dynamism and sculptural form.

Composed of three columns, in cherry red, tangerine orange, aqua, grape purple, and magenta, the main colors vanish or transform depending on how they are positioned individually and in relation to their siblings.

Perhaps most dramatically, the triangular columns can be turned so one of their three pointed sides faces the viewer to reveal a completely different color pattern/palette. Each of the columns utilizes different color blocks with accent stripes running vertically to transform or highlight different shades of the dominate colors, and allow a completely new arrangement when viewed from different angles side.

If you are familiar with Caviar20 you probably know that Vasa was a Senior Professor of Design at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he taught color theory for many years.

For nearly nearly 50 years he has been working in acrylics; whether on canvas or through sculpture.

Vasa's sculptures photograph well, but to truly appreciate these works they need to be observed in person.
