Louise Nevelson
Louise Nevelson is one of the most revered and original artists of the 20th century. An astonishing part of her story is that commercial success only arrived when she was in her 60's. However, she remained one of America's most admired and collected artists for the rest of her life. Nevelson's enduring appeal can be credited to her distinct visual language used for both sculpture and two-dimensional works. While her painted wood black assemblage sculptures are instantly recognizable, Nevelson experimented with many materials including resin, steel, bronze, and numerous printmaking techniques.
While Nevelson remains undervalued compared to her male contemporaries, savvy collectors have in recent years created great momentum in her market. Caviar20 is one of the only galleries to be focused on her editioned works as well as her important early modernist drawings.
